About Argilleus
Argilleus provides newly engraved editions of public domain classical music. Unlike scanned historical editions, these scores are digitally engraved for clarity, readability, and high-quality printing. Every score is available free of charge as a downloadable PDF.
The International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP/Petrucci Music Library) is one of the greatest resources available to musicians, and I have relied on it extensively for many years. I strongly encourage anyone who benefits from their work to support the project.
Argilleus is not intended to replace IMSLP, nor could it match its enormous collection. Instead, it has a different goal: providing clean, modern digital editions of public domain music.
While many public domain scores available online are scans of printed editions, the scores published here are newly engraved from scratch. This results in files that are easier to read on screens, print more clearly, and are generally more practical for modern musicians.
Every edition is prepared with careful attention to engraving quality, readability, and consistency.
